Java Security Vulnerability Fixed
You may have seen at the end of last week news of Java’s security vulnerability, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security urging computer users to disable Oracle Corp’s Java software. This vulnerability gave hackers a way to use Java to install malicious software on a system so that they could carry out attacks ranging from identity theft to making an infected computer part of an ad-hoc network of computers that can be used to attack websites.
The good news: Oracle has come out with a patch. Java 7 Update 11 fixes both CVE-2013-0422 and a second vulnerability. The fastest way to deploy this patch is to install the latest version from the Java Downloads for All Operating Systems page.
